Who are the new Friends of Avenue House? (FoAH)
The new Friends are a group of volunteers who want to help the Avenue House Estate thrive – and not just survive. We are mostly local people including professionals, retirees and parents of children in nearby schools.
We work with the Avenue House Estate Trust (who run the Estate) to:
- encourage fundraising and volunteering for the Estate
- communicate current news and future plans about the Estate through this website, and the local press (eg. The Finchley Arrow and Hendon and Finchley Times)

What are we up to now?
The Friends of Avenue house re-formed in spring 2011 to raise emergency funds which helped the Estate to survive the immediate financial crisis.
The situation is improving, and the new Estate team is working to increase revenue from the house, but the current level of funding is not yet sufficient for the maintenance of the grounds.
Currently 64 of your neighbours make standing orders to support the Estate, the majority at £10 a month: some do subscribe more, even up to £50 a month. Their current support raises £11,065 a year for the Estate. FoAH, after discussions with the new management of Avenue House and Estate, is now working to increase this to £40,000 per annum, for use towards the cost of maintaining the grounds. To do this we need only a further 193 people who love and use the park to contribute an average of £10 a month – the equivalent of 1 cup of coffee per week.
Will you join us to safeguard the use of the grounds for all of us in Finchley to enjoy?
We look forward to a time when we can all enjoy the wide variety of events that run throughout the year within the grounds and where the focus is squarely on enjoying the park as a community rather than on fundraising.
